Lisa's Rose Garden

Lisa's Rose Garden - ©Judy Joy Nocifora
9 x 12 Oil on linen canvas panel

The past two or three weeks have been extremely busy.  It seems that all the art shows, charity donations are happening in the months of September, October and November.  All good!  I have been at the easel a lot and that is just where I like to be!
I am looking forward to giving a demonstration and art talk at Elmcroft Assisted Living tomorrow, and I am super excited about finishing painting to donate to my high school reunion and participating in the Fall Plein Air Festival in Blue Ridge, Georgia.

Thanks to all who have "Liked" my professional page on Facebook.  This is the site where I will post new paintings, newsy news, and announcements about upcoming drawings for painting giveaways.  You don't want to miss out, so here is the link to my  page: Judy Joy Nocifora Studio Fine Art

It is so much fun to have flowers growing in your yard to paint! I have five Gerber Daisy plants that have survived three winters now. Each plant's blooms are different colors continually. They are like a box of chocolates... you never know what your are going to get.

"Spirited Tulips"

"Spirited Tulips" by J Joy Nocifora
9 x 12" oil on linen canvas panel
$200.00 (unframed)

Tulips seem to have a spirited personality! I enjoy watching them open their tight little faces to expose their dark inner colors and spread the breadth of their petals. Then they bow their heads as if to say, "there now... wasn't that a great show!"

"Roses from Marty"... floral, still life

"Roses from Marty" by J Joy Nocifora ©2011
9 x 12 oil on linen canvas panel

It is almost Mother's Day and I have much to be thankful for every Mother's Day... well everyday really! I brought my newborn daughter, Tammy, home on Mother's Day and what a way to celebrate this joyous occasion.
I have always been perplexed about the wearing of a white flower or a red flower on Mother's Day? The white flower is a symbol that your mother is no longer living and the red flower is a symbol that your mother is living. Well, I've decided that I don't want to wear a white rose anymore because my mother is living. She lives in my heart every day and I want to celebrate it with color!
These roses are compliments of my friend, Marty. Their luminous, pink color and perfectly formed stems, leaves and petals beckoned me to the easel. i couldn't resist!

Happy Mother's Day!

This painting will show at the Children's Ballet Fund Raiser at Buckman Performing Arts Center, May 13, 14, 15. Reception is Friday, May 13 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"Yellow Rose"

"Yellow Rose" by J Joy Nocifora ©2011
11 x 4" oil on board
$99.00 (unframed)

I gave my daughter a mixed bouquet of flowers when she arrived at the airport for a recent visit. In the bunch, there was one yellow rose and although it was almost beyond its time, it kept calling me to paint it. Now, don't ask me why it was calling me because I find painting roses very challenging and most of the time, I just avoid trying to paint them.
Well... of course... it is the challenge that calls me to paint the rose!! '-)

"Happy Pansies" SOLD

"Happy Pansies" by J Joy Nocifora ©2011 -Sold-

I enjoy a sparse showing of the pansies in our flower beds all through the winter. Now, however, with a few warm days, they have sprung to life and are just glorious! I just had to go out, pick some and paint them. I nestled these purple and gold pansies against a little Italian pottery pitcher. They are one of my favorite flowers. I hope you enjoy this painting.
