Bozarts Gallery 5th Annual Holiday Miniature Show - December 6 in Water Vallery, Mississippi

I am pleased an honored to be invited to participate in Bozarts Gallery 5th Annual Miniature Show in Water Vallery, Mississippi.  The show opens on December 6, 2014 with a fanfare of 38 artists, music, appetizers, wine and carriage rides in the valley. 

I've painted some of my favorite subjects, nests and birds for this show.  I loved created the textures and colors with free flowing brushwork and my favorite palette.  Added to my regular palette of ultramarine blue, cadmium red light, cadmium yellow medium, alizarin, and LeFranc titanium white, were:  Terre Verte, Mineral Violet and Golden Ochre.  These last three are Holbein colors.  

I often add to my regular palette depending on the subject and I  like to experiment with new color additions.

Just so grateful for being able to do what I love…paint!… and ever more grateful to be able to share this fabulous journey.  Thanks to all who have purchased my work and who continue to follow my efforts and encourage me!

Life's A Beach

Powerhouse Gallery, Oxford, Mississippi Show

I am honored to be juried into Powerhouse Gallery's July show, "Anywhere But Home."  Reception will be in conjunction with Oxford's Art Crawl, on Tuesday, July 23, 6-9 p.m.

Seven artists' works will make the theme "Anywhere But Home" come to life.  Below is one of the paintings that I will have in the show.  Ya'll come... Oxford is a great place to spend an evening!

Brookhaven Circle Bash - Great, Family Event

"The Brookhaven Circle Bash," a family event on Brookhaven Circle, with food, drinks, pick a prize, and games for the kids. Art shows at Studio 708 and DCI Home. pating from Brookhaven Circle. Entertainment: Bands Fork Lift, The Millionaires and Cadillac Funk. This year the event is being held on Sunday, September 30 from 1-5:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds benefits Flying Colors Cancer Foundation.

I will be doing a painting demonstration from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the painting will be given away in a drawing at Studio 708.

Sandy Barksdale (L), from Cotter, Arkansas, is the recipient of my demonstration piece for Art on the Sidewalk in Germantown, TN.  Sandy is a painter and helps organize the White River Plein Air Event which will be held in Cotter, Arkansas in May 2013.  I enjoyed meeting Sandy and her family!

The Episcopal Church Women of Calvary Episcopal Church in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, held their first "Artist Market" this past Sunday, November 20, and it was a huge success. It was a feast of talent and creativity and an amazing variety of art... pottery, jewelry, candy, pastries, breads, knitted items, and paintings. I discovered the hidden talents of so many friends and the artist got to mingle and visit during the show. It was just soooo much fun! The painting of a bird's nest and eggs, above sold to dear friends and I am so thrilled that it found a home with them! It is so nice to know who owns your paintings.

A Hustling, Bustling September!

This has been a busy, challenging and very exciting several months preparing for our art show, "Memories and Mementos"... Two Painters Journeys. I know all my artist friends out there know how much work goes into getting ready for this kind of event. In addition to painting, there is the framing and wiring, invitations, marketing the event, hanging the show and preparing the appetizers. I was thankful to have a wonderful artist friend, Denise Rose to share in these preparations. We welcomed over 100 guests to our opening reception and it was so exciting to have the opportunity to share our works in oil.

If you were unable to join us for the opening reception, the show will be up through the month of September at the Memphis Botanic Gardens.

I am back now to the everyday painting, which I love, love, love, blogging and checking in with all my favorite artist friends. Yes, life is so good!

It is about time that I painted a rooster. I say that because I have always had a fascination for them. Their fanciful plumes in an endless array of color combinations are really quite beautiful. Perhaps most interesting to me is their feisty personality. When I think about it, I have known some people who have some of this same feistiness. I suppose they get their names like "King of the Roost" honestly. I enjoyed the free flowing, bold brush strokes of the feathers in this painting.

The Hampton Fine Art Gallery Merit Award

Thanks to the judges at "The Hampton Fine Art Gallery" for honoring me with a Merit Award at their 4th Annual 100 Artists Exhibition 2010 for my painting, "Fruits of the Vine and Blue Willow."
