My demo consisted of working with an intentional, color scheme:  a split complementary of Yellow/Orange+Red Violet+Blue (ultra marine).  Loved the way I was able to mix clean, clear colors and a fabulous array of cool blues, violets, neutrals and a variety of warm yellows and warm neutrals

Loosen up and learn to paint expressively! In a fun, stress free

environment, this class features a brief orientation and demo of the “Alla Prima” method of painting from life which includes the process of composition, values, edges, and color harmony. Participants will paint their response to a composition, using big brushes for confident brush work and

a palette knife.

My goal is to help beginners get a good start in painting with oils and for

intermediate painters, to you take your work to the next level! Instructor

Judy Nocifora is an award winning artist, whose work has been juried in

local and regional exhibitions. She has traveled and studied with some of

Nothing speaks to a painter more than scenes like this in Italy.  Capturing the effect of light with paint is an exciting challenge for the painter.

Cows are such fascinating, beautiful animals.  I particularly like their variety of shape and color and… that look they have in their eyes.  Fun to paint!

Bozarts Gallery 5th Annual Holiday Miniature Show - December 6 in Water Vallery, Mississippi

I am pleased an honored to be invited to participate in Bozarts Gallery 5th Annual Miniature Show in Water Vallery, Mississippi.  The show opens on December 6, 2014 with a fanfare of 38 artists, music, appetizers, wine and carriage rides in the valley. 

I've painted some of my favorite subjects, nests and birds for this show.  I loved created the textures and colors with free flowing brushwork and my favorite palette.  Added to my regular palette of ultramarine blue, cadmium red light, cadmium yellow medium, alizarin, and LeFranc titanium white, were:  Terre Verte, Mineral Violet and Golden Ochre.  These last three are Holbein colors.  

I often add to my regular palette depending on the subject and I  like to experiment with new color additions.

Just so grateful for being able to do what I love…paint!… and ever more grateful to be able to share this fabulous journey.  Thanks to all who have purchased my work and who continue to follow my efforts and encourage me!

HOEDOWN at HOG & HOMINY - JULY 22 - BROOKHAVEN CIRCLE IN MEMPHIS

This colorful painting of a rooster, "Big Boss,"will be auctioned at a fundraiser for Flying Colors Cancer Organization in Memphis.  It is sponsored by and coincides with the opening of Hog & Hominy Restaurant on Brookhaven Circle in Memphis.  See you at the HOEDOWN!

"Barn at Kirby Farms" ©jjoynocifora - Plein Air Memphis had a paint out this past Saturday. This is a wonderful property just inside Germantown, TN. It has been sold and will probably be developed as commercial property. We are fortunate to have permission to paint here until the end of April. In addition to this barn, there are two others and a Victorian House with oodles of gingerbread trim.
