"Roses from Marty" by J Joy Nocifora ©2011
9 x 12 oil on linen canvas panel
It is almost Mother's Day and I have much to be thankful for every Mother's Day... well everyday really! I brought my newborn daughter, Tammy, home on Mother's Day and what a way to celebrate this joyous occasion.
I have always been perplexed about the wearing of a white flower or a red flower on Mother's Day? The white flower is a symbol that your mother is no longer living and the red flower is a symbol that your mother is living. Well, I've decided that I don't want to wear a white rose anymore because my mother is living. She lives in my heart every day and I want to celebrate it with color!
These roses are compliments of my friend, Marty. Their luminous, pink color and perfectly formed stems, leaves and petals beckoned me to the easel. i couldn't resist!
Happy Mother's Day!
