The Episcopal Church Women of Calvary Episcopal Church in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, held their first "Artist Market" this past Sunday, November 20, and it was a huge success. It was a feast of talent and creativity and an amazing variety of art... pottery, jewelry, candy, pastries, breads, knitted items, and paintings. I discovered the hidden talents of so many friends and the artist got to mingle and visit during the show. It was just soooo much fun! The painting of a bird's nest and eggs, above sold to dear friends and I am so thrilled that it found a home with them! It is so nice to know who owns your paintings.

I really like painting bird nests and bird eggs. It has a spiritual quality for me. It speaks to me of life, the comforts of life that we have been given, etc. The painting itself is fun... loose and free. I might say, "free as a bird!"

This is certainly true for me on this artist journey. The learning unfolds through the process of painting each new work. It truly is an exciting, challenging journey and I love it! And yes, I am getting more comfortable in my "artist's nest."
