Painting Out of My Comfort Zone!

I have not painted many head portraits, but I was so inspired by Jim Richards demo in our Nashville workshop at Warehouse 521, that I thought I would give it a whirl.  It was so much fun, just massing in the big shapes… no drawing… and making this little guy's ruddy checks, lips and eyes come to life!  As a matter of fact, I had so much fun painting "Grandpa's Hat" that I can't wait to get another head portrait started!  Awesome feeling!  

Fabulous Teacher… Jim Richards in Nashville at Warehouse 521!

A really talented group of artists gathered at Warehouse 521 in Nashville, TN for a workshop with the fabulous painter and teacher Jim Richards of Atlanta, GA.  Thank you Jeanie Smith for organizing the workshop.  Thank you, Jim Richards, for your inspiration, incredible demos and guidance and instruction at the easel.  We are all indeed lucky to have had this opportunity to study with you!
