Peter and I had the most wonderful visit to Cashiers and Highlands, NC in July. We especially welcomed cool mountain air during the hot, steamy month of July here in Memphis. Peter and I are regular visitors to this area for many years now.
I find it helpful to create a "notan" study before applying color to plein air paintings. I use a thin wash with lots of turp so that it dries quickly. It makes my decisions about color go much faster.
I loved painting this old, weathered cabin... in the cool mountain setting!

This is so charming...I love that sweet mailbox.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lisa! When I saw this little cabin it evoked thoughts of a time gone by when someone once got their mail here. Happy painting Judy
